The Common Area

The common area... This is what my roommate and I get for trying to "sample" the available real estate in Brooklyn. We were on our way to drinks in Forte Green, after my questionable experience at the diner. We saw a sign for an open house and decided to check it out…of course. After a lot of talk, the agent showing the house explained that we would only be able to view the "common areas" of the brownstone. We embarked on our open-house tour. The tour guide led us up the steps and said, "This staircase is what we will call the 'common area'". After each flight (five flights), the tour guide would point out a door and say, "And this is a studio" …but we would never go inside.
"And this ends the tour." After walking up five flights of steps, the only part of the open house was the staircase. We viewed not one apartment. How are you going to call yourself having an open house, when only the staircase is open?
